🎲 Game Rules by AzulHome

Welcome to AzulHome’s Game Corner — a place where connection, strategy, and laughter come together.
Here’s a quick guide to the classic games we love: American Mahjong, Rummy, and Texas Hold’em Poker.
Perfect for family nights, friendly gatherings, or weekend tournaments.

🀄 American Mahjong Rules

Players: 4
Goal: Be the first to complete a valid hand as listed on the official National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card.

Setup:

  • Each player starts with 13 tiles (East starts with 14).
  • Players take turns drawing and discarding tiles to form sets and pairs that match the NMJL hand patterns.
  • The game uses 152 tiles, including Jokers and Flowers.

Tile Types:

  1. Suits: Craks (Characters), Bams (Bamboos), Dots (Circles)
  2. Honors: Winds (East, South, West, North) & Dragons (Red, Green, White)
  3. Specials: Flowers & Jokers (wild tiles)

Gameplay:

  • The East player begins by discarding one tile.
  • Players can call a discarded tile to complete a Pung (three of a kind), Kong (four of a kind), or Quint (five of a kind).
  • A Mahjong is declared when a player completes a valid 14-tile hand from the current year’s NMJL card.
  • Jokers can replace any tile in a set (except singles and pairs).

Winning:

  • The first player to complete a listed hand declares “Mahjong!”
  • The game resets and East rotates clockwise.

♣️ Rummy Game Rules

Players: 2–6
Goal: Be the first to get rid of all your cards by forming valid sets and runs.

Setup:

  • Use a standard 52-card deck (plus Jokers if you like wilds).
  • Each player is dealt 7 cards (for 2 players) or 6 cards (for 3–6 players).
  • The rest form a draw pile; turn the top card over to start the discard pile.

Gameplay:

  1. On your turn, draw one card from the draw pile or discard pile.
  2. Try to form:   Sets: 3 or 4 cards of the same rank (e.g., 8♣ 8♦ 8♥                                                   Runs: 3 or more cards in sequence of the same suit (e.g., 5♦ 6♦ 7♦)
  3. You may lay down sets/runs or add to existing ones on the table.
  4. End your turn by discarding one card.

Winning:

  • The first player to “go out” (no cards left) wins the round.
  • Points are counted based on the cards remaining in other players’ hands.

♠️ Texas Hold’em Poker Rules

Players: 2–10
Goal: Win chips by making the best five-card hand or convincing others to fold.

Setup:

  • Each player is dealt two private cards (hole cards).
  • Five community cards are placed face up in the center.

The Rounds:

  1. Pre-Flop: Players look at their two hole cards and choose to bet, call, or fold.
  2. Flop: Three community cards are dealt.
  3. Turn: A fourth community card is dealt.
  4. River: The fifth and final community card is dealt.
  5. Showdown: Players reveal their cards — the best five-card combination wins.

Hand Rankings (Best to Least):

  1. Royal Flush
  2. Straight Flush
  3. Four of a Kind
  4. Full House
  5. Flush
  6. Straight
  7. Three of a Kind
  8. Two Pair
  9. One Pair
  10. High Card

Example:

If your hand is ♠A ♠K and the table shows ♠Q ♠J ♠10, you have a Royal Flush — the best possible hand!
